Goals and assists from African players in Europe: June 1-4

The European club season is winding down but there are still crucial matches in the continent’s top leagues where African players are making a major impact. This week in our compilation of goals and assists from players representing African national teams, Guinea national team and VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy is the standout player. The 27-year-old goal scorer born in France was on the score sheet for the Bundesliga club in a 3-0 first leg victory as they attempt to defend their top division status in a relegation playoff against second tier side Hamburg.

Guirassy, on loan from French club Rennes, has 14 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for Stuttgart and decided to switch his international allegiance to Guinea with whom he made his debut in March 2022. He and Stuttgart will attempt to finish the job of staying up in the second leg on Monday. Watch Guirassy’s goal below as well as goals and assists from African players in Italy’s Serie A and France’s Ligue 1 as both leagues completed their seasons.
