Goals and assists from African players in Europe: October 21-23

For Africans abroad in European football it was a weekend dominated by Nigerian strikers making the headlines with Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen being joined by compatriots Paul Onuachu and Taiwo Awoniyi in making important contributions. Osimhen continued his excellent run of form since returning from injury with the winning goal in Napoli’s 1-0 road victory over AS Roma, making it his third goal in his last three games. Onuachu is in even hotter form with a stunning eight goals in his last five matches for Genk as they cruised to victory in Belgian Pro League action.

Awoniyi provided the winner in a huge upset for English Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest, who continued their steady revival of form in a 1-0 upset of Liverpool. Watch the goals from all three Nigerian strikers as well as African goal contributions in Europe’s top leagues below.
