Goals and assists from African players in the Middle East: August 16-20

The Saudi Pro League began its 2023-24 season in our last compilation of goals from the Middle East and now the region’s two other major leagues are off and running. The Qatar Stars League and the UAE Pro League both began in the middle of last week and completed their first round of matches by the weekend with both leagues featuring high priced infusions of African talent.

This week we focus on a player who has spent his last five seasons in Qatar, Algerian playmaker Yacine Brahimi. The 33-year-old attacker born in Paris helped Al-Gharafa put in a strong offensive performance against Qatar SC with a goal and an assist. Unfortunately Brahimi could not help his team’s weak defense which conceded a late equalizer in a 4-4 draw but the Algerian looks set for a productive campaign.

Watch Brahimi’s goal and assist below as well as all goals and assists from African players in the top divisions of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
