Asante Kotoko earned a triumphant 4-0 Ghana Premier League victory over Bechem United at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Wednesday to move a point ahead of rivals Hearts of Oak into third place. New manager Mariano Barreto appears to have inspired a resurgence with Brazilian playmaker Fabio Gama finding his form, assisting as well as scoring a goal in the first-half.
Worries about the departure of leading scorer Kwame Opoku were not fully settled when replacement Francis Andy Kumi missed a few opportunities before halftime, but the young forward made amends with an excellent header from an Imoro Ibrahim cross to make it 3-0 in the 63rd minute. To wrap up a dream day for Kotoko fans, new Brazilian forward signing Michael Vinicius came on as a substitute to make his debut and marked it with a late goal.
