2021-22 Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko are continuing to field interest for their top performers from last season and it appears a key player is on his way abroad. Left back Imoro Ibrahim has completed a move to Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal Omdurman according to a report from Joy FM’s Owuraku Ampofo for a fee adding up to just over $400,000. Al Hilal will pay an up front fee of $150,000 for Ibrahim with substantial add-ons based on the performance of the attacking left back and Hilal in the CAF Champions League.
After breaking through as the consistent starter at left back for Kotoko during the 2019-20 Ghana Premier League season, Ibrahim made 30 league appearances before contributing a league-leading eight assists along with two goals during this last season. The 22-year-old established himself as a set piece specialist and also broke into the Ghana national team, making his debut in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against São Tomé and Príncipe in late March 2021. Ibrahim started both of Ghana’s 2022 African Nations Championship qualifying wins this past week against Benin as well.
