“Social networks are not CAF . If CAF does not say it, if the local organizing committee does not say it, if the Cameroonian Federation does not say that, we must not listen to the others” was the response of CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba upon arriving in Cameroon to questions regarding the moving of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations to a different country from the Central West African nation. Mosengo-Omba maintained a defiant position to questions from Cameroonian media and indicated that he, the local organizing committee and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) are all working in harmony with no threat of the tournament being moved contrary to rumors.
Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o had similar sentiments in his comments during an interview on Malian television station ORTM1 as well, stating that he is confident that the country could host an even more significant tournament such as the World Cup.
