Last-placed side Black Leopards were officially relegated from South Africa’s DStv Premiership on Wednesday with a 3-1 road defeat to Cape Town City. Khomotso Masia opened the scoring for the visitors to give Leopards a hopeful 1-0 halftime lead, but it quickly fell apart after the break as the hosts surged back. Fagrie Lakay equalized in the 57th minute and former Nigeria youth national team star Abdul Ajagun handed Cape Town City the lead three minutes later before sealing Leopards fate by adding another in the 85th minute.
Barring a victory on the last day and things going their way elsewhere, Chippa United will likely be competing in the relegation playoff to try and avoid dropping down to the second-tier GladAfrica Championship following a scoreless draw at Tshakhuma. Chippa are two points away from safety and have to defeat SuperSport United in order to have any hope of avoiding the playoff.
