TP Mazembe continue to recover their form after a disappointing start to the season by showing their dominance in domestic league play and Sunday’s Linafoot match against AS Simba saw the Ravens turn on the style in Kolwezi. Plenty of Mazembe supporters made the short trip to witness a 3-0 victory with goals from familiar faces as Phillippe Kinzumbi scored twice thanks to questionable goalkeeping and Adam Bossu finished the job late on for Pamphile Mihayo’s men. Mazembe are perfect through two Linafoot matches and have one more league fixture before facing Royal AM in the 2022-23 CAF Confederation Cup playoff round.
FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo were at home once again for their second league match following a 1-1 draw against Lubumbashi Sport in their season opener but this time the Railmen earned maximum points. Togolese forward Abdou Tchatakora finished a cross from close range on the quarter hour mark to put the hosts in the lead before Peter Ikoyo doubled the lead with a header from a corner kick early in the second half. Panda rallied to cut the deficit in half with a beautiful curling free kick from Grace Khoj but Ikoyo scored a second to restore the two-goal lead before Lupopo held off a comeback attempt from the visitors.
