LONACI LIgue 1 (5è J) : Meme à 10 contre 11, le Racing Club préserve le invincibilité face à l’ASEC

Le Championnat de Côte d’Ivoire featured two of its top teams clashing on Thursday as ASEC Mimosas and Racing Club Abidjan played out a heated 1-1 draw. The two top teams in Group B of the championship had plenty to play for and the urgency to obtain a win caused tempers to spill over at times, but the match was a fascinating encounter.

A Serge Pokou opener for ASEC on the half-hour mark was cancelled out by an inspired rally from ten-man Racing, who found their deserved equalizer from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute through Dagrou Djédjé. Racing had made their task more difficult due to a Thaula Theophile Oura red card for serious foul play in the 56th minute, the defender stomping down on an ASEC attacker off the ball. However, instead of making the road to a win easier for ASEC, Racing improved their performance and could have won the match if it wasn’t for quality saves from ASEC keeper Abdoul Karim Cissé.
