Motsepe Foundation donates USD 10M to FIFA-CAF Pan-African School Football Championship

A big announcement was teased by CAF for Wednesday regarding the proposed FIFA-CAF Pan-African School Football Championship and president Patrice Motsepe followed through by announcing a substantial investment from his foundation to provide initial funding. $10 million will be invested by the Motsepe Foundation for the project, which aims to increase the quality of football youth development in Africa by investing further in football at the school level for boys and girls. Players aged 12 to 14 will participate in national tournaments organized by national football associations where winners will progress to one of the six zonal tournaments, with the final stage being a continental tournament.

CAF Online has more on Motsepe’s interest in promoting the tournament and the reasons why the new competition will benefit African football.
