The Egyptian national team squad for the Olympics was announced and while an agreement could not be reached to bring in English Premier League stars Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny as well as current Galatasaray forward Mostafa Mohamed, the Pharoahs will be bringing a talented side led by playmaker Ramadan Sobhi. Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy and Saudi-based center defender Ahmed Hegazy will be the overaged players who bring experience and leadership to the defense in a squad that is dominated by players based in the Egyptian Premier League.
Egypt will have a difficult time advancing as one of the two teams out of Group C, widely labelled the “Group of Death”, along with Argentina, Spain and Australia.
