Southern Nigerian side Akwa United moved into top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Thursday with a 3-1 victory over Heartland, putting The Promise Keepers one point ahead of Kano Pillars. Charles Atshimene tallied two goals to bring his total to 9 in 18 matches this season. Atshimene’s second was assisted by Friday Ubong, who wrapped up the scoring in the 73rd minute to complete the victory.
