Petro de Luanda are back at the summit of not only Angolan football but the African scene as well with Os Petroliferos on the verge of clinching their first domestic league title since 2009 as well as an ongoing CAF Champions League campaign where they are preparing for a semifinal matchup against Morocco’s Wydad AC. Manager Alexandre Santos has had his contract extended for another season due to his excellent first season and can now aim to keep Petro’s name in the headlines.
The 45-year-old has plenty of experience at top clubs with spells as an assistant manager at SC Braga, FC Porto, Egypt’s Al Ahly and French club SM Caen before trying his hand as head coach at Alverca and then Petro.
