2025 AFCON: African legends Hadji, Aurier, Cisse and Yobo to assist in draw

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed African legends African legends Mustapha Hadji, Serge Aurier, Aliou Cisse and Joseph Yobo will be assistants at the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat on Monday, 27 January.


According to a statement from the African body, Hadji, Cisse, Aurier and Yobo will not only pull the balls from the pots, but will be on hand to offer their insights into the groups for the tournament that will be played in Morocco from 21 December, 2025 to 18 January, 2026.


The 24 qualified teams will learn their path to the trophy at final draw, which starts at 19h00 local time (18h00 GMT | 20h00 Cairo).


The team that will be in the draw include Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.


Pot 1: Morocco (hosts), Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire (defending champions)

Pot 2: Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa, DR Congo, Burkina Faso

Pot 3: Gabon, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, Benin

Pot 4: Mozambique, Comoros, Tanzania, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Botswana
