Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has reacted to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw by saying “we will do our best to achieve the title.”

During the draw held in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday, the Pharaohs were drawn in Group B alongside South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe.

Egypt last won the title 15 years ago in Angola and according to the former international, they are ready to compete with the best and reclaim the trophy to make Egyptians happy.

“The competition will be difficult, of course, due to the presence of big teams, headed by Morocco, Algeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal and other teams with a long history in the Africa Cup of Nations, but we are ready, God willing, and we will do our best to achieve the title and make the Egyptians happy,” Hassan said as quoted by CAFOnline.com.

Hassan, who won three AFCON title – in 1988, 1998 as well as in 2006 – believes the current crop of players in the Egypt squad have what it takes to make history in Morocco.

“Of course, as Egypt we won the most African Nations titles, we always play to achieve championships, and this will be our goal. We have major senior players, headed by Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush and Trezegue, and the best clubs in Africa, Al-Ahly and Zamalek, and young players, who have shone with us in the recent years,’ explained Hassan.

The draw was conducted with the assistance of African legends Serge Aurier, Aliou Cisse, Joseph Yobo and Mustapha Hadji.
