Zambia coach Avram Grant revealed his delight after the Chipolopolo secured their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ticket following their 1-0 victory against Ivory Coast at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, on Friday.
Young Africans (Yanga SC) striker Kennedy Musonda scored the vital goal in the 43rd minute to propel the Chipolopolo above the already qualified the Elephants at the top of the group.
“Everyone made a great effort, we fought for the ticket and I am really very proud of you for what you have achieved, it was not easy and we did it so convincingly against the champions of Africa,” the former Chelsea boss said after the game.

Musonda’s right-footed strike from over 35 yards sailed into the center of the goal, leaving the Ivorian goalkeeper stranded. The Elephants made changes in the second half, but Zambia's defense, led by Frankie Musonda, withstood the pressure to hold onto their lead.
Ahead of their final game against Sierra Leone on Tuesday, the Chipolopolo now lead Group G with 10 points, followed by Ivory Coast, who have nine, Sierra Leone are third with five while Chad are last with three points.
