2025 AFCON: South Africa’s qualification ‘a magnificent feat’ - Danny Jordaan

South Africa Football Association (SAFA) President Dr. Danny Jordaan has revealed his excitement after Bafana Bafana sealed their qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco with two games to spare.


Bafana’s qualification was confirmed on Thursday after South Sudan defeated Congo 3-2 in another Group K fixture at Juba National Stadium. The outcome of the game enabled both Bafana and Uganda to qualify from the group.


“Congratulations to coach Hugo Broos, his technical and support staff, the players and everybody who contributes to the team. This is a magnificent feat to have qualified for the next AFCON in the same year that Bafana Bafana won the bronze medal at the tournament held in Ivory Coast On behalf of the SAFA NEC, congratulations to the team,” said Jordaan.


Ahead of their matchday five fixture against Uganda Cranes at Namboole Stadium on Friday, Bafana are sitting second in the group with eight points, two less leaders Uganda, while Congo are third with four and South Sudan last with three points.


Bafana will wind up their group matches against South Sudan at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday, November 19.
