South Sudan national team head coach Nicolas Dupuis has expressed caution ahead of their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixture against South Africa on Tuesday.
The Bright Stars will conclude their Group K matches against the already qualified Bafana Bafana at Cape Town Stadium. The East African nation will head into the fixture with confidence having defeated Congo 3-2 in their matchday five assignment at Juba National Stadium.
Heading into the Bafana clash, Dupuis said: “We are going to play against South Africa, South Africa is a formidable team, posing significant danger to us. Their previous win underscores this.
“Nonetheless, we will utilise this opportunity to learn and prepare for our upcoming 2024 CHAN qualifiers match against Rwanda in December.”
South Sudan arrived in Cape Town and checked into the StayEasy Cape Town City Bowl. The match against South Africa kicks off at 18h00 on Tuesday at the DHL Stadium.
Bafana have already qualified from the group as they have 11 points, and are followed by Uganda, who have also qualified with 10 points. Congo are third on three points while South Sudan have three points and sit last in the group.
