2025 Africa Cup of Nations: CAF unveils schedule for finals

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has formalized the calendar for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco, which will be held from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026. The event will take place in nine sports venues spread over six host cities, providing a spectacular setting for the biggest competition in African football.


The opening match will pit hosts Morocco against Comoros on December 21 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, a brand new venue that can accommodate 69,500 spectators. An ideal setting to kick off this prestigious tournament.

Leading infrastructure for a historic competition


Morocco has put in place a high-level system to host this the 2025 edition with six cities mobilized; Rabat with 4 stadiums with one stadium each in Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Tangier and Fez.


The quarter-finals will be played in Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech and Agadir while the semi-finals will take place in Rabat and Tangier. The match for third place will be played at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca while the grand final will be held in the capital of Rabat.


In total, 52 matches will be played over 29 days, highlighting the continent's best talents and celebrating the fervor of African football.


A taste of the 2030 World Cup


With this AFCON, Morocco marks its return as host country after having organized the competition for the last time in 1988. This event is also part of a strategic preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the North African nation will co-host with Spain and Portugal.


The African continent, and more particularly Morocco, is preparing to experience a decade of exceptional football where modern infrastructure, passion and spectacle will be there.
