The Ethiopian women national side trainer Yoseph Gebreweld has named Wubeshet Desalegn as the new goalkeeper coach.
Desalgen has already started his new job with the national side since the end of last week as Lucy prepares for the 2026 Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Uganda.
Desalegn, a former Ethiopian international, is not a new face to working at the national side. He previously led the goalkeeping department for the senior men national side back in 2023 when Daniel Gebremariam was an interim coach of the national side.
Desalgen played for different top clubs in the Ethiopian premier league as goalkeeper. He also won league titles with Saint George as a goalie trainer.
Desalgen doubles as the goalie coach of topflight side Ethio-Electric. The Ethiopian Football Federation and Electric have agreed for Desalgen to take up the new role. Nonetheless, Pan-Africa Football learned he still retained his work at Ethio-Electric.
Lucy gears up for the WAFCON qualifier. The team camped in Addis Ababa and will play two friendly games against Djibouti before taking on Uganda.
