Veteran Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa has vowed to throw his support for the Super Eagles despite failing to make the cut for coach Eric Chelle’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Musa, who now plies his trade with local club, Kano Pillars, was part of the initial 39-man provisional squad but was yanked off when it was trimmed down to the final 23 by the Malian tactician.

That notwithstanding, the former Leicester City forward says he will offer his unwavering support to the three time African champions ahead of the two World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

“The team is one, and any player called upon to represent the Super Eagles must give their all. I am fully behind the team and will be cheering them on to victory in these World Cup qualifiers,” Musa told Modzerosport.

The 32-year-old has not been invited to the Super Eagles since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire. Musa is Nigeria’s most capped player with 108 appearances.

Nigeria’s dream of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup hangs by a thin thread as they sit fifth in Group C on third points after four qualifying games.

They will travel as guests of Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium four days later.
