Lesotho coach Leslie Notsi has praised Hugo Broos for improving the mentality of South African national team Bafana Bafana.

Likuena became the latest team to suffer under Bafana following a 2-0 defeat in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture at a packed Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday.

After protecting their goal for the first 45 minutes, Lesotho caved in the second period as a masterclass performance saw Relebohile Mofokeng open the scoring in the 60th before Jayden Adams increased the lead three minutes later to put the game beyond the visitors’ reach.

According to Notsi, the Belgian coach has transformed Bafana with tactical discipline and speed being some of the big elements of their play in the last three years that have improved drastically under his reign.

“Tactically, they have improved a lot and there's a lot of speed that they play with and the team that they have, the core of the team when you look at it, you see it is made up of teams that are doing very well internationally in the CAF Champions League,’ said Notsi as quoted by SABC Sports.

“So, the exposure that they've had and the manner in which they conduct themselves in their respective clubs you'd expect to have to have a team like the current one and the self-belief is there which is something that has always been there for the South African national teams and I think again the contribution also of the technical team it's also making the team thrive.”

Bafana, who are topping Group C with 10 points from five matches, will face Benin in their matchday six fixture at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Ivory Coast on Tuesday.
