South Africa national team goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has revealed they have enough qualities to handle any challenges post by Benin when they two sides face off in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny on Tuesday.

Bafana have had a good campaign in the qualifiers and recently dispatched COSAFA neighbours Lesotho 2-0 to take control of Group C. Meanwhile, Benin are also fighting for the World Cup ticket as they are breathing behind Bafana on the log.

According to Williams, Bafana have been building over the last years, and though it will be a tough game, they are strong enough to grind out maximum points from the battle.

“It’s going to be a tough one. Benin is a very good team, but we believe in our qualities, we believe in what we’ve been building over the last year. So we’re looking forward to the game. It’s going to be a tough one, a lot of challenges, but I think this team is strong enough to overcome all those challenges,” said Williams ahead of the game.

“It’s going to be a tough one, but we’re excited and we’re looking forward to it. We know how important and vital this game is for the group. We know that we can open up a gap and we know that a gap can be closed as well.

“So this is a big, big, big game in these qualifying rounds. It’s obviously the halfway mark now and after tomorrow you’ll have an idea as to who the favourites are in the group. So we want to be there and we want to stay on top of the group.”

Bafana will go into the matchday six fixture having beaten Lesotho 2-0 while Benin drew 2-2 against Zimbabwe. Bafana are currently topping Group C with 10 points from five outings while Benin are second with eight.
