Botswana coach Morena Ramoreboli says his team deserved credit for its performance despite suffering a home 3-1 loss to Algeria at Obedi Stadium in Francistown on Friday, March 21, 2025.

In a post-match interview, the coach said the result does not reflect the Zebras performance in this Group G game. The visitors scored through Mohamed Amoura’s late double and Amine Guin’s strike. Tebogo Kobelang pulled one back for the hosts.

“Every player played today. It is just unfortunate that in football, you will always be judged on results but if you look at the performance, we did well,” Ramoreboli said.

“I know that we are not going to be proud but if you are honest enough with the team, you will give them credit that they played well. It is just unfortunate that if you play well and you don't get results, you don't look at those things positively.”

The result saw Botswana remaining in fourth place with six points in the standings, six points behind join leaders Algeria and Mozambique who defeated Uganda on Friday.

The Zebras next welcome bottom-placed Somalia on March 25 2025 while Algeria entertain Mozambique on the same day.
