Ghana will go again for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Friday, March 21` against Chad on match day five at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The four time African champions are yet to heal from the 2025 AFCON qualifying debacle where they missed out on the ticket to Morocco. They will be absent at the continental competition for the first time over a decade, a situation that has irked football followers in the West African nation.
The attention will now be turned to the 2026 FIFA World Cup and assistant coach of the Black Stars, Desmond Ofei believes the yet to be named squad has got a lot of quality to compete Chad and Madagascar.
The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar at the Grand Stade d'Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24, 2025.
“We have enough quality to compete against Chad and Madagascar. We want to make Ghanaian fans very proud of us. It very important that we give a really good performance against Chad at home. We are going to fight and it’s going to be a final. It important to make sure that this window is wrapped up positively,” he told Ghana Football Association website.
The West African powerhouse are currently joint top of Group I alongside Comoros with nine points, having collected back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in their previous World Cup qualifying matches.
Ghana coach Otto Addo is yet to announce his squad for the two crucial games next week.
