Madagascar head coach Corentin Martins has weighed in on their round six fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana on Monday.
The Barea are 2nd in Group I with 10 points from five matches and will look to revive their World Cup hopes with a win against the four-time African champions at the Al Hoceima Stadium in Morocco. The French tactician has admitted that Ghana has a good squad but his charges are bent on causing an upset.
"We're going to play our way. We're going to try to annoy them [Black Stars] as much as possible," Martins was quoted in a video released on Sunday.
"Ghana has great players who play in major European leagues, [but] in football, anything is possible. We have to play the same kind of game in order to stand a chance of winning points from Ghana," Martins clarified.
"This game is not decisive on Monday because there are four other games still to be played.”
Both nations are coming from confidence boosting victories in match day five where Madagascar defeated Central African Republic by a 4-1 score while Ghana battered Chad by 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana top Group I on 12 points, two better than Madagascar making the clash very tough for both sides with the Malagasy team chasing their first-ever World Cup qualification for the 2026 finals staged in Mexico, Canada and USA next year.
