Morocco continued its impressive run in the African region of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying with a 2-0 home victory over Tanzania in the sixth round of Group E matches.
The Atlas Lions started the match on home soil with a strong attacking lineup featuring Youssef En-Nesyri, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli and Brahim Díaz. Despite their strength, Morocco failed to reach the Tanzanian net and the first half ended in a goalless draw.
However, Morocco wasted no time in the second half. Nayef Aguerd opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a shot from inside the box after capitalizing on a rebound from Tanzania goalkeeper Yakoub Suleiman.
Just minutes later, Morocco was awarded a penalty in the 56th minute after Tanzania defender Ibrahim Bacca touched the ball with his hand inside the area. Brahim Díaz stepped up and converted the spot-kick, doubling Morocco’s lead.
The score remained 2-0 until the final whistle, marking Morocco’s tenth consecutive victory. The team also extended its unbeaten run to twelve matches, with its last defeat dating back to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against South Africa in the Round of 16.
