Nigeria and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is upbeat about Nigeria’s chances ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda away from home in Kigali on Friday.

The Super Eagles are in need of two wins in their next two games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe to stand a chance of booking a ticket to the World Cup finals to be hosted next year by Mexico, Canada and the USA.

Despite the challenges faced in the first four games, Boniface emphasized the importance of the upcoming match for both the players and the country.

"We know how important this game is to us and also as a country,” Boniface told Nigerian reporters in Kigali. "We need to be at the World Cup, and I can speak for myself and the other players—we’re ready to give our best and hopefully secure a win. You can see it in the training, everyone is ready and really looking forward to the game," he added.

"We hope and see if we can achieve our aim so hopefully we can get a win. It’s been really tough. But no matter who the coach is, we know how big Nigeria is as a country. We always want to give our 100%, and that doesn’t change. The most important thing is that we’re all ready, and we’re all looking forward to the game."

Nigeria will host Zimbabwe on March 24 in another must-win fixture at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The three-time African champions sit 5th in Group C with three points – four behind Rwanda, South Africa and Benin and two points adrift of fourth place Lesotho from four matches.
