Zimbabwe defender Emmanuel Jalai says the Warriors should brace for Uyo’s humid conditions when facing Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

He spoke to Zimbabwe Football Association media after training in Uyo ahead of the Group C game at Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

“It was a good training session [on Monday] despite the weather. It is hot but we have to adapt because, I am sure on Tuesday, it is going to be the same humid conditions. It is hot but we must adapt and acclimatize to the weather,” he said.

He admitted that the Michael Nees’ charges have an uphill task against the hosts who are buoyed by last week’s 2-0 away win in Rwanda.

“It is not going to be easy. Football is always different. It is full of surprises so we have to do our best and give it our all. They have quality but we also have quality and it will determine how we will impose ourselves on the game,” Jalai added.

The Warriors face a must-win situation after dropping points in a two-all draw against Benin last week to remain at the tail end of the pool. The Super Eagles are in fourth place in the group, six points behind leaders South Africa.

Only group winners will secure a straight World Cup qualification with four of the nine runners-up qualifying for a playoff and opportunity to reach the intercontinental qualifying playoff.
