Uganda Cranes will resume their FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers campaign in March with two crucial Group G fixtures as they aim to boost their chances of qualification.
Paul Joseph Put’s side will first travel to Mozambique for an away encounter scheduled between 17th-18th March 2025, seeking a vital result on foreign soil. The Cranes will then return home to host Guinea on Tuesday, 25th March under the floodlights of Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
This highly anticipated fixture will be a chance for Uganda to avenge their 2-1 defeat to Guinea in the first round meeting. Uganda’s last World Cup Qualifier at Namboole ended in a narrow 2-1 defeat to Algeria in June last year, a result they will look to improve upon in front of their home supporters.
Algeria currently leads Group G with nine points, level with Mozambique. Botswana, Guinea, and Uganda all have six points, making the battle for qualification even more intense. Somalia remains at the bottom without a point.
With only the group winner securing direct qualification to the World Cup and the runner-up potentially advancing to the inter-confederation play-offs, Uganda’s upcoming fixtures are pivotal in shaping their path to the global showpiece.
