Ex-Premier Soccer League and Zimbabwe coach Sunday Chidzambwa has challenged Zimbabwe player Khama Billiat to show that he still got it after being summoned to the Warriors squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.

The 34-year-old was included in coach Michael Nees squad for the two fixtures following his recent transfer from Zimbabwean side Yadah FC to Scottland FC. Chidzambwa, who coached Black Leopards, believes Billiat has got another chance to lead and rise again.

“Of course, he is an already accomplished player, but we have a young squad at the moment. And I expect him to lead and rise at the same time,” said Chidzambwa as quoted by FARPost. “You know, by remaining in the Zimbabwean league, people in some circles believe he is no longer good enough. They think he is no longer influential.

“He may be in the twilight of his career, but honestly, he has another chance to prove that he is a rare breed. And also facing Bafana Bafana makes it more interesting because South African fans will be keenly watching to see how their former star is doing. It will be a reunion with some of his former teammates like Tau [Percy], but honestly, stakes will be high for him.”

Billiat was forced to come out of retirement in August, 2024, for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
