
Algerian international Riyad Mahrez stated they should be ready for the confrontation against Botswana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifier Group G tie against Botswana. Les Fennecs top their group with nine points.

Four of the nine group runners-up qualify for a playoff to determine Africa's representative at the intercontinental qualifying playoff.
Mahrez, who is having a superb season at Saudi side Al Ahli, said the game against Botswana will be very tough. “It will be a difficult match with a long trip. We must be ready for Botswana. We are going there in search for a win.”
Coach Vladmir Petkovic will announce his squad for the upcoming qualifiers next week. Former Manchester City star Mahrez is expected to be included after scoring 11 goals and assisting 13 times in all competitions for Al Ahli.
Mahrez added that the Algerian national side is seeking to make their fans proud by achieving positive results in the next qualifying assignment.
