Guinea-Bissau national team coach Luis Boa Morte has revealed his roaster to face Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures. The Portuguese coach called up Everton forward Beto while omitting the injured Brest striker Mama Baldé from his list.
The 27-year-old Beto has appeared four times for the Guinea Bissau national side and scored once since the striker born in Lisbon elected to represent the Djurtus in October 2024. He continues to be instrumental in Everton’s resurgence in recent weeks, bagging six goals in all competitions since the beginning of 2025. Beto will lead the attacking line for the Djurtus.
Boa Morte dropped the injured star striker Baldé. Baldé got injured after Brest's Coupe de France defeat at the hands of Dunkerque. The 29-year-old is strugging to get goals this season. Another notable absentee is influential midfielder Moreto Cassama after failing to find a new club since August 2024.
Boa Morte has also named four new players to his squad. Defenders Babacar Fati, Mario Junior, attacker Vando Felix and midfielder Tamble Monteiro received their first ever calls to the national side. Sene Camara is the only player who plays in the local first division of Bissau-Guinean football.
Guinea Bissau are second in Group A with six points, four points shy of leaders Egypt.
