DR Congo have a good opportunity in March to move back into contention for top spot in Group B of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying and coach Sébastien Desabre announced his squad this week.

With matches ahead against the two bottom sides, at home against South Sudan and away to Mauritania, Desabre's selection reveals a focus on experience and reaching the objective of six points from two matches. Forward Cédric Bakambu, defensive keystone Chancel Mbemba and left back Arthur Masuaku bring plenty of experience along with familiar stars like Meschak Elia and Yoane Wissa.
Bakambu is the experienced striker but an opportunity may await for Simon Banza who continues to produce goals at a high rate in his club career. However the Turkish top flight's second leading scorer has yet to deliver for the Leopards with zero goals in nine appearances and Desabre may decide to keep the Trabzonspor player as an option off the bench.
However, one young player make be set to make a substantial contribution. 20-year-old defensive utility option Noah Sadiki is having an excellent season for Belgian Pro League side Royale Union SG and Desabre continues to increase his role and responsibilities in the midfield.
The Leopards are currently in third place in Group B and two wins in March could be the moment where the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semifinalists emerge as favorites to secure qualification for their first World Cup since 1974.
