Supersport United striker Abubeker Nassir has commenced preparations with the Ethiopian national side in the capital Addis Ababa for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Waliyas coach Mesay Teferi is content to see Nassir honoring the call up after time spent out of the national team fold. The 25-year-old striker will be present for the Ethiopia team after a nearly three year hiatus. Frequent injuries hindered Nassir from representing his nation in AFCON and World Cup qualifiers. The talented forward will be hoping to make a positive impact on the national side.
Ethiopia are fifth in Group A with three points. The Waliyas continue to struggle to get goals in the campaign and they will be looking at Nassir to fill the void. Nevertheless, the striker is yet to make his debut for Betway Premiership outfit SuperSport and his match fitness is in doubt.
The national side will continue to prepare at the Addis Ababa Stadium before they head to Morocco next week. The Waliyas will face group leaders Egypt and bottom side Djibouti.
