Nigeria national team captain Ahmed Musa has called on the Nigerian government and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Abubakar Lawal, who passed away while a member of Uganda Premier League giants Vipers SC this week.

Musa expressed concerns over conflicting reports regarding Lawal’s passing, suggesting that more clarity is needed.

“It is heartbreaking to receive the news of Abubakar Lawal’s passing. The reports surrounding his death are contradictory, which raises many questions,” Musa stated.

“Initially, it was said to be an accident, but another report suggested he fell from a balcony. These inconsistencies point to something suspicious.”

Musa revealed that he has already reached out to both the Nigerian authorities and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), urging them to intervene and collaborate with their Ugandan counterparts in seeking justice.

“I am appealing to the Nigerian Government and the NFF to investigate this matter and work closely with the Ugandan authorities to uncover the truth,” he posted on Instagram.

Lawal, who joined Vipers SC in the summer of 2022, passed away on Monday morning leaving the football fraternity in shock.
