Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has said that, they need to improve their game in the second half of the 2024/25 season.

The Phobians encountered mixed results en-route to clocking 29 points after 17 matches of the first half of the season. They sit 5th with two points behind rivals, Asante Kotoko. The 2000 CAF Champions League winners will travel to Basake Holy Stars for opening of the second half of the this term on Sunday, January 26.

Asare, who joined the millennium champions from regional rivals, Accra Great Olympics last year, says they need to avenge for the 1-0 loss in the first fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“There are a lot of things in football and when we started, that was not our determination to lose games but football has a lot of facets,” Benjamin Asare told Hearts of Oak media.

“They [Baseke Holy Stars] came here [Accra] to beat us but that does not mean we should lose to them again. “Since the league is ongoing, anything can happen and we need to encourage ourselves so that everything goes on well for us.

“We our highly motivated to kick start the second half of the season looking at the encouragement from the management. “We need to raise the level of our game in the second half of the season so that we can right the wrongs of the first round of the season.

“We need to revenge for the first defeat [in Accra] so I thank all and it is our aim to put up a good performance in the second half of the season,” Benjamin Asare added.

Holy Stars on the other hand lie 9th on the league table with 22 points accumulated from the 17 league matches.
