Nigeria forward, Ademola Lookman has dismissed any form of pressure ahead of their crunch encounter against Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 27-year-old Atalanta forward alongside captain, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina and Alex Iwobi joined the team camp earlier on Monday ahead of Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Amavubi this Friday.

Lookman, who is the 2024 CAF African Footballer of the Year, admitted he’s feeling positive about the ideas Eric Chelle has implemented among the rest of his teammates.

“I’m not feeling any pressure at all. I’m just glad to be back with the squad, back with the guys. We have a big task ahead of us and we’re looking forward to it,” Lookman told OJB Sports."

“We’ve have loads of meetings about how the manager wants us to play, our game plan, and aspects of how we defend and attack, so they are all positive."

“We’re all keying into his ideas. As a group, we’ve had our second session today, and yesterday’s session went well too, so, positive feelings.” He added.

Nigeria will take on Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, March 21, before returning to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo to lock horns with Zimbabwe four days later.

The two games are must-win fixtures for the Super Eagles, who have endured a torrid start to the World Cup qualifying campaign.
