AFC Champions League: Riyad Mahrez sets new personal record as Al Ahli storm into semifinals

Algerian star Riyad Mahrez has broken his personal record for the highest number of goal contributions in a single season at club level.



Mahrez has reached 34 goal contributions with Al-Ahli Saudi Club during the current campaign, despite the season not yet being over. This marks the highest tally of his career for a single season.


So far, Mahrez has scored 16 goals and provided 18 assists across 40 matches this season. The 33-year-old added to his tally by scoring in Al-Ahli’s 3-0 victory over Thailand’s Buriram United in the AFC Champions League quarterfinals.



Previously, Mahrez’s best season in terms of goal contributions was with Manchester City during the 2021–22 season, when he recorded 33 goal involvements (24 goals and 9 assists).


In addition to his club achievements, Mahrez has made 100 appearances for the Algeria national team, scoring 32 goals and delivering 42 assists.
