“We are taking this game as if it’s the opening fixture of the campaign. We are going to do our best to win, and the players are ready to fight for the nation. It’s important to us, and we want to win it for our fans after disappointing them against South Africa so that we prove a point,” Aucho stated in his pre-match remarks.

In the same press conference, Uganda head coach Paul Put echoed similar sentiments by calling for his players to focus and be confident away from home in Brazzaville:

“It’s true we lost against South Africa at home but this can happen to any team in the world. Tomorrow’s game, everyone has to be concentrated and confident if we are to win. The public is behind us; that’s why we want to perform and make them happy."

The Cranes concluded their final training session on Monday at the match venue, preparing to face a Congo side they defeated 2-0 in the first leg at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

With qualification already secured, Uganda will strive to end their campaign on a high note. Group leaders South Africa, one point ahead, will host South Sudan in the final group game. The Cranes will be hoping for a victory to maintain pressure on the leaders and delight their fans.
