After an exhilarating day of matches on Friday, 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying calms down a bit on the weekend with two matches each on Saturday and Sunday. For Saturday, Group H will complete its fifth matchday with DR Congo already qualified while Guinea, Tanzania and Ethiopia battle for second place and a ticket to the finals in Morocco. We will provide updates on the first match between Ethiopia and Tanzania and also the headline clash of the day, DR Congo versus current occupants of second place Guinea.

16:00 GMT

Group H: Ethiopia vs. Tanzania (Kinshasa, DR Congo)

Ethiopia have had a disastrous campaign and recently appointed interim coach Mesay Teferi to lead the team for their final two qualifying matches. However the Walias still remain alive with a victory today in Kinshasa and could put a serious dent in third place Tanzania's chances. The Taifa Stars are favored to get all three points but have only two goals in four matches, something that veteran forwards Mbwana Samatta and Simon Msuva will hope to remedy after both were named in the XI that came out this hour.

HT:

Ethiopia 0-2 Tanzania

Everything is going to plan for Tanzania who were efficient on their scoring opportunities against an Ethiopia team low on confidence. Simon Msuva opened the scoring with a header from a corner kick and Feisal Salum doubled the lead shortly after the half hour mark with a header of his own. Second half underway in Kinshasa where Tanzania will put heavy pressure on Guinea if the result holds.

FT:

Ethiopia 0-2 Tanzania

Ethiopia showed improvement in the second half but could not find a goal to trouble the Taifa Stars. Tanzania move a point ahead of Guinea into second place for the time being to put pressure on the Syli National ahead of their clash with group leaders DR Congo.

Group H: Guinea vs. DR Congo (Abidjan, Ivory Coast)

The pressure is on Guinea to deliver a big result and maintain their second placed position but the Syli are facing a Congolese team that is in peak form under coach Sébastien Desabre who has maximized the potential of this Leopards team. Serhou Guirassy is in the XI for Guinea with François Kamano, Mady Camara and Morlaye Sylla in support. For the Congolese, it is a full strength XI from Desabre with captain Chancel Mbemba anchoring the defense while Théo Bongonda and Meschak Elia are attackers on the wings who will support striker Simon Banza.

HT: Guinea 0-0 DR Congo

Guinea looked more likely to score with a strong first half performance in Abidjan. DR Congo are struggling to create opportunities and the Leopards will need to improve if they want to remain undefeated in Group H.

FT: Guinea 1-0 DR Congo

Guinea finally make their breakthrough and of course it is Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy who provides the crucial winner in second half stoppage time! Guirassy got on the end of a cross from Syli captain Issiaga Sylla to produce an excellent flying volley for what could be three essential points. A draw would have left Guinea needing a victory in their final match at Tanzania but now the West African nation only needs to avoid defeat in Dar es Salaam to confirm qualification over the Taifa Stars who must now win to overtake Guinea.
