Head coach of Ghana’s U-20 male team Desmond Ofei has said that, his charges are ready to give their all in the Youth Championship which kicks off in Egypt on 27th April.

The team left Ghana on Sunday, April 20 to continue preparations and fine tune for the Group C clashes where the four time African champions are housed against DR Congo, Central African Republic and defending champions, Senegal.

Ofei said: “The boys are really enthusiastic about the whole situation, the hunger is there so I don’t think we should motivate them and so you can see that in training they are giving their hundred percent and they are ready to give everything for the nation.

“So up to now no injury update, the boys are fully fit and ready and hungry so mentally, physically and spiritually they are really up there.”

Ghana qualified for the tournament after placing second to Nigeria at the WAFU ZONE B championship in Togo and will set sight on replicating the feat chalked by their predecessors in 2009.

The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals. The tournament is set to kick off on Sunday, April 27, 2025, and will conclude with the final on May 18, 2025.

The four semifinalists will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted in Chile.
