Ghana’s U-20 male team suffered a 2-1 loss to the Zambia U20 National Team in an international friendly on Tuesday, April 22.

The Junior Chipolopolo edged Ghana 2-1 in a 2025 TotalEnergies Egypt Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U20 tournament preparatory match. A late David Simukonda goal gave Zambia the much needed win ahead of the continental showpiece which kicks off this weekend.

Pascal Phiri put Zambia in the lead in the 21st minute but Aziz Misbawu leveled for Ghana with a beautiful low range drive which went past Levinson Banda nine minutes into the second stanza.

The two nations were using the match to prepare for the TotalEnergiesAFCONU20 due this weekend.

Zambia are drawn in Group A, alongside hosts Egypt, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tanzania, in the tournament scheduled from April 27 to May 18. Ghana find themselves in group C alongside DR Congo, Central Africa Republic and defending champions Senegal.
