In Sunday's late match from the English Premier League, Manchester United rallied to collect a point in their 2-2 draw with rivals Liverpool at Anfield. Ivorian attacker Amad Diallo provided the late equalizer after it appeared that Mohamed Salah's penalty would be enough for Liverpool to collect maximum points.
The league leaders were in control for large stretches of the match but surprisingly fell behind early in the second half from an unlikely source as United defender Lisandro Martínez fired in off the crossbar. Cody Gakpo restored parity for the hosts seven minutes later to make it 1-1.
Liverpool appeared set for another victory after Mohamed Salah added yet another goal to his impressive tally this season. The 32-year-old Egyptian superstar converted from the penalty spot for his 18th league goal of the season after a handball was committed by United in their penalty area.
But victory was not to be on the day for the hosts at Anfield. United winger Alejandro Garnacho embarked on a powerful run down the left flank and his low cross found Amad Diallo whose low finish snuck past Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.
One of the few bright spots in another disappointing Manchester United campaign, the 22-year-old Ivorian now has 6 goals and 7 assists in 27 appearances as his breakout season in England continues. Diallo and United will return to action in one week with an FA Cup clash at Arsenal while Salah and Liverpool travel to Tottenham for the first leg of their League Cup semifinal duel.
