Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller expressed his happiness after his team secured a 3-1 victory over Modern Sport on Sunday in the 11th round of the Nile Egyptian League.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, as quoted by Al Ahly’s official website, Koller said:

"We played a good first half and scored three goals but the pitch was not in good condition. During the halftime break, we urged the players to maintain their pressing and focus. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal in the second half."

The head coach added:

"Overall, the players did their job, and we secured a well-deserved victory with three goals. We could have scored even more."

Koller continued pointing out that Gradisar, Al Ahly's recently acquired striker, scored a goal today and created several chances in a good performance. However, he was substituted due to muscle fatigue.

The Swiss coach also confirmed, according to Al Ahly’s official website, that new signing Achraf Bencharki has not participated in training for a week due to injury. He expressed his hope that the player will return after he is medically cleared.

After this victory, Al Ahly now occupies second place in the Nile Egyptian League standings with 23 points, just one point behind league leaders Pyramids.
