Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller expressed his satisfaction with his team’s victory on Wednesday against El Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League.

Koller acknowledged the challenges posed by the match, which followed a taxing journey to Abidjan that included a long trip and a demanding game played in high temperatures and humidity. Al Ahly defeated El Gouna 2-0 in the 8th round of the Nile League, climbing to the top of the table.

Speaking during the post-match press conference, as quoted by Al Ahly's official website, Koller said:

"With my experience as a former player, I understand the difficulty of playing a match every three days and the physical and mental fatigue this brings. It requires immense strength to handle such challenges. In the second half, our performance improved significantly, and we achieved our objective. We were fortunate to avoid conceding any goals, and we created several opportunities."

Regarding Emam Ashour's five goals in the last two matches, Koller stated:

"I asked him to be more present in the opponent's penalty area and to score goals. He possesses the skills needed to excel and his abilities allow him to shine."

Koller also praised young player Omar El Saai, saying:

"Omar has reached an excellent level after adapting remarkably well. He was instrumental in creating chances in the match against Stade d'Abidjan. Today, I played him as a winger and he performed well and was close to scoring. I hope he maintains this level."

He continued:

"Every game is important, and each match comes with its own challenges. The league is tough and significant. El Gouna has been a strong opponent in their recent games. I also deployed Karim El Debes as a winger because he originally started his football journey as a forward during his childhood before being moved to the left flank."
