Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller has refused to comment on his future with the Egyptian football powerhouse, saying his focus was on Saturday’s CAF Champions League semi-final meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Swiss is quoted as having avoided talk about his future with Al Ahly in a pre-match press conference in South Africa on Friday ahead of the CAF Champions League semifinal, first leg match at Versfeld Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
“For me, my future is only focused on tomorrow’s game,” he told Lorenz Kohler of iDiski Times. “After that, it’s the next day. I still have a contract, so that’s what I’m focused on [my work] and not the speculation around my future.”
“Others from management have to answer those questions, but I’m focused on preparing my team and the game tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it and the players are very focused,” he added.
The former Austria national football team coach has won two CAF Champions League titles, four Egyptian Super Cups, and two Egyptian Premier League championships with the Reds.
The 64-year-old joined the African Club of the Century in September 2022 on a two-year contract, replacing Ricardo Soares. The Portuguese trainer had stepped into Pitso Mosimane’s shoes.
