Al Ahly first-team doctor, Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, confirmed that head coach Marcel Koller missed the team's final training session today due to a health issue. Koller is suffering from a stomach flu and has been placed under medical observation.
Dr. Gaballah stated that Koller has taken the necessary medication and treatment and his condition will be monitored closely in the coming hours to determine whether he can be present for the match against Smouha. Al Ahly will face Smouha on Tuesday in a rescheduled fixture from Matchday 5 of the Egyptian Premier League. The game will kick off at 2:00 PM GMT.
The Red Devils recently returned from Algeria after a 1-0 loss to CR Belouizdad in Matchday 4 of the CAF Champions League group stage. Despite the setback, Al Ahly remains in strong contention in both domestic and continental competitions.
In the Egyptian Premier League, Al Ahly is currently third on the table with 12 points behind leaders Zamalek by just two points. A victory against Smouha would see them leap to the top of the standings.
Meanwhile, in the CAF Champions League, Al Ahly occupies second place in Group C with seven points, one point behind South African side Orlando Pirates.
