Sami Komsan, the assistant coach of Al Ahly's first football team, emphasized the challenges of the upcoming CAF Champions League match against South Africa's Orlando Pirates. The game is set to take place this Saturday as part of the second round of matches in Group C.

In statements published on Al Ahly's official website, Komsan highlighted Orlando Pirates as a strong team aiming to capitalize on home advantage and their fans' support to achieve a positive result. He also noted that playing at 3 PM (1 PM GMT) in hot weather conditions adds to the difficulty of the match.

Komsan assured that Al Ahly players have extensive experience in dealing with such conditions, having played in similar environments before, which equips them with the determination needed to overcome these challenges.

He further revealed that the coaching staff, led by Marcel Koller, has analyzed several recordings of Orlando Pirates' games to study their playing style and key players. This analysis will help devise the appropriate game plan which will be discussed in upcoming technical briefings with the players.

The Al Ahly delegation arrived in South Africa early this morning after a taxing 10-hour journey including a layover in Nairobi, Kenya.

The CAF Champions League group stage match between Orlando Pirates and Al Ahly is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 3:00 PM local time in Johannesburg, South Africa. This corresponds to 3:00 PM Eastern European Time (EET) in Cairo, Egypt.

In the opening matches of Group C in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League, both Al Ahly and Orlando Pirates secured victories. Al Ahly defeated Stade d'Abidjan 4-2, while Orlando Pirates won 2-1 against CR Belouizdad to place both teams at the top of their group with three points each.
