Al Ahly has officially announced the signing of Ahmed Reda from Petrojet on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
While the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, reports suggest that the transfer fee ranges between $400,000 and $500,000 with two Al Ahly players heading to Petrojet on loan as part of the agreement.
Ahmed Reda, who will turn 25 years old on February 19, is a versatile player who plays as a defensive midfielder and a center-back. He spent part of his youth career at Zamalek but departed the club as a free agent in 2021.
This season, Ahmed Reda has been a main player for Petrojet, featuring in all nine of their Egyptian Premier League matches and one Egypt Cup fixture.
Reda has registered one goal, provided one assist, and won the Man of the Match award twice in the league with Petrojet. The club in Suez have done well in their return to the top flight, sitting in 8th position after winning the second division and promotion last season.
The acquisition of Ahmed Reda marks Al Ahly’s third signing of the winter transfer window, following the arrivals of striker Nejc Gradišar from Hungarian side Fehérvár FC and defender Mostafa El Aash from ZED FC. Both players debuted in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Pyramids FC where Gradišar scored the equalizer.
